Administrative Professionals Day (formerly National Secretary Day) was first celebrated on June 4, 1952, as part of National Secretaries Week to recognize the vital contributions of administrative staff in a growing post-WWII economy. Founded by the National Secretaries Association (now IAAP) and Harry F. Klemfuss, the day was moved to the last full week of April in 1955 and renamed to reflect modern, evolving roles in 2000.
